PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE ICT SECTOR. The Institute of Electronics and Communications Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) - Northern Mindanao Chapter commemorates the 2016 National Electronics and Telecommunications Week with an environmental appreciation tour of the 1,200 hectare Carbon Sink Project in Mapawa, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City. The visit put forth the importance of embracing the principles of sustainable development not only in the ICT sector in but in all facets of business enterprises. Funded by energy-firm STEAG State Power Inc. (SPI), the Mapawa Carbon Sink is considered as one of the largest private sector reforestation initiatives in the country and is providing a model of sustainable approach in forest development and maintenance.
