Based on the recent figures, Region 10 recorded a total of 422 cases of persons––393 are male and 29 are female––who contracted the virus between January and June this year.

Of this, 192 come from Cagayan de Oro, 255 in Misamis Oriental. Camiguin and Gingoog in Misamis Oriental have the least number with six cases.

Pajo said the ages of virus carriers range from 25 to 35 years old. “Kaniadto kay duna gyuy 15 years old,” he said.

Pajo said 143 are bisexuals, 200 are homosexuals, and 76 are heterosexuals. He said there were already 27 victims who died in the region out of 156 in the entire country. But Pajo also said the recorded cases may have increased because victims were coming out in the open. He said the Department of Health and the local government are working hand in hand to closely monitor the condition of the victims.

He said the Aids council is giving regular counseling and medication to those found positive for HIV-Aids.
