Princess Tababa of the National Nutrition Council (NNC-10) said they are currently handling the assessment of the nutritional and health needs of the affected populations, provision of essential micronutrients, management of acute malnutrition, protection, promotion and support of infant and young child feeding, and provision of other food and non-food based interventions.

Tababa also said there is still a need for re-assessment through weighing and height taking after one month if the evacuees are still housed in evacuation centers, sustained advocacy on Executive Order 51 or the Milk Code, and dissemination of DOH Administrative Order No. 2007-0017 or the Guidelines on the Acceptance and Processing of Foreign and Local Donations during Emergency and Disaster Situations.

The RNC also calls out for cooking utensil donations, manpower augmentation who can help in monitoring health status in evacuation centers and support in sustaining and expanding the community kitchen. (pia x)
