Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno welcomes the suggestion of city councilor Ian Nacaya to subject all city hall employees and elected officials to a mandatory drug test.

“We will follow the law and there must be sanctions if they are found positive,”  said Moreno.

Meanwhile, political detainee Alfredo ‘Ka Paris’ Mapano welcomed the decision of the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front-New People’s Army’s (CPP-NDF-NPA)  decision to withdraw its support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s war against illegal drugs.

Mapano, who is currently detained at the Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail, said he is dismayed with the recent surge of extrajudicial killings under the pretext of the war on drugs.

“Dili na maayo paminaw ug subra na sad kaayo nga halos kada adlaw naay patay sa kampanya batok sa illegal drugs,” Mapano said.

Mapano is a highanking leader of the CPP-NDF-NPA in northern Mindanao and is a listed peace negotiation consultant by the NDF. (Nitz Arancon)
