He said the Local Price Control Council (LPCC) met on Friday and it was revealed that some business establishments in the city have not lowered down the prices of some basic commodities despite stable supplies.

Goking said the officials were now closely monitoring the prices of canned sardines, processed milk, coffee, instant noodles, canned goods, bottled mineral water, laundry soap, and detergents in the city.

He also called city hall departments like the City Agriculture Office (CAO) and the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) to help in price-monitoring efforts especially on agricultural products like rice.

“Rice is our most important commodity. Mao nga kinahanglan gyud monitoron kay naa ra ba ang hoarding dayun ani,” Goking said.

The committee has recommended to the LPCC to also keep an eyes on the the supply and prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). (lito rulona)
