AT least 3,000 aspirants for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, coming from the city’s 80 barangays, signed the peace covenant and oath for an honest and peaceful elections on May 14.

Held in Nazareth gymnasium Thursday, the event was organized by City Commission on Elections Officer Atty. Ramil Acol which also served as a candidates’ briefing.

“Covenant lang tong among gipirmahan alang sa  Honest and peaceful SK and barangay election,” said Gusa Barangay Chairman Marlou Tabac.

According to Comelec-10 Regional Director Renato Magbutay, he delegated the task of conducting the covenant signing and candidates’ briefing to the city and municipal election officers of the region.

The gathering was aimed at building rapport among the candidates in order to promote a peaceful campaign period.

Mag-start sila (candidates) sa ilang kampaniya sa May 4 until sa May 12. Within that period,  they will see to it, nga walay  mangda-ot kanila, i-presentar lang nila ang ilang mga programa during sa campaign period kay aron masiguro nato nga peaceful ang atong barangay election,” Magbutay said.
