CAGAYAN de Oro City yesterday celebrated the opening of the International Deaf Day bannering the theme “Full inclusion with sign language.”

City Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya graced that event in behalf of City Mayor Oscar Moreno.

In his speech, Nacaya said that it is his fervent hope that the deaf association of cagayan de oro will come up with concrete proposals so that the city government can extend more to them.

The event, hosted by the city govt, is attended by more than 300 participants from this city and neighboring towns.

Several activities were lined-up to celebrate the whole day event like theater drama contest, painting competition, and trivia. Also, speakers from Department of Health gave talks about the importance of sign language.

The International Deaf Day is celebrated worldwide on the initiative of the United Nations to honor the establishment of the International Federation of Deaf. (sp)
