The 10.4-metter expansion project of the existing water supply system for Sendong survivors at CDORSHP I Phase 3, Calaanan to Level III which was inplemented last year is now 80% completed and was formally inaugurated over the weekend July 29.

The components of the Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) Project, with the Department of the Interior and Local Government 10 (DILG) who served as source agency, City Government of Cagayan de Oro as implementing partner and Cagayan de Oro City Water District (COWD) as implementing agency.

The said project includes a 342-meter transmission line, distribution lines with a total lengh of 1,794 meters, 700-meter service line, 64 units meter stub-out, 3 units fire hydrant, 1,321 water meters, 1 electromagnetic flowmeter and 2 units blow off valve.

About 1,321 families who are Sendong survivors will now have access to safe and potable drinking water through individual water connections.

The inauguration  was attended by top officials of the proponent agencies headed by RD Arnel M. Agabe of DILG-10, Mayor Oscar Moreno and General Manager Rachel Beja of COWD, among others. Ms. Ruby Madriaga, HHOA President, expressed her gratitude in behalf of the family-beneficiaries who also witnessed the event.

An orientation-seminar for new service applicants was also conducted right after the ceremonial valve opening. pr
