CAGAYAN de Oro will benefit from the Corn/Cassava program of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office (DA-RFU 10).

The City Council during its regular session Monday, August 6, enacted an ordinance authorizing the city mayor to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the DA and the Mambuaya Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative for the grant of one unit cassava granulator amounting to P128,700.

Under the MOA, DA-RFO-10 shall conduct the procurement activity, pay the cost of the mechanization facility based on the bid price, and extend technical services as may be needed. It shall, likewise validate and inspect the site thoroughly and review and evaluate the project accomplishment report, among others.

For its part, the city shall provide technical assistance on the use of the equipment and assist the DA in the selection of the FA. The city is also tasked to regularly monitor the performance of the equipment.

The legislation was endorsed by the committees on agriculture and fisheries and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Annie Y. Daba and Ian Mark Nacaya, respectively. (CLI)
