Cagayan de Oro City and the city of Yantai in the province of Shandong, People’s Republic of China will soon have closer ties.

The City Council has adopted a resolution accepting the offer of the city of Yantai to enter into a sisterhood relationship or twinning agreement to enhance mutual understanding, goodwill and friendship between the peoples of both cities.

The agreement cites that both cities will seek the possibility of establishing a cooperative relationship and carry out exchanges and cooperation in various forms in the fields of economy, trade, science, technology, culture, sports, education, health, tourism, and personnel, among others to enhance mutual development and prosperity.

In his letter to Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy, Mayor Oscar Moreno said a delegation from Yantai will be visiting the city on Aug. 18 and it is their wish to undertake the signing of the agreement around that date. (sp)
