Ozamiz City Police Office (Ocpo) bested other city, municipal, and provincial police offices in northern Mindanao in the drive against proliferation of illegal drugs from March 1 to 21 as the National Police (PNP) launched Oplan Double Barrel-Reloaded.

Headed by the controversial police officer, Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido, whose last assignment was as municipal police chief of Albuera, Leyte received the top awards by the Police Regional Office 10 (Pro 10) awarding ceremony yesterday.

Chief Supt. Agripino Javier, Pro 10 regional director gave the awards to deserving police officers in the region during its traditional Monday flag raising ceremony. PNP Chief  for Administration Police Deputy Director General Ramon Apolinario graced the ceremonies.

Javier said giving awards to police officers who led their unit into major accomplishments against proliferation of illegal drugs must be given immediately as their response to the untiring service to the public.

“PRO 10 once again recognize (the) contributions of its men in the line of service in their areas of responsibility,” he said.

A total of 10 Police Station Commanders were conferred with Medalya ng Kagalingan. It is for their achievements in the implementation of Project Double Barrel: Reloaded that resulted to a very significant high number of arrests of illegal drugs personalities covering the period of March 1 to 20 by initiating intensified conduct of anti-illegal drugs operation since the resumption of Project Double Barrel.

Among those who were given their awards were as follows: Chief Insp. Jovie  Espenido, Ozamiz City; Chief Insp. Jasper Ian Pasco, Iligan City; Supt. Marcial Ley Fronteras, Valencia City; Chief Insp. Malvin Loquinte, Kapatagan; Chief Insp. Arnel Polo, Cagayan de Oro City.

Chief Insp. Mohammad Taufh Abduhaalim, Cagaya de Oro City; Chief Insp. Ernesto Niebito Daing, Cagayan de Oro City; Chief Insp. Alfredo Ortiz Jr, Malaybalay City; Senior Insp. Oswaldo Tongson Jr, Iligan City; and Chief Insp. Evan Viñas, Cagayan de Oro City.
