“I DIDN’T see it coming.” This was the statement made by Mayor Oscar Moreno when Rep. Rufus Rodriguez announced his candidacy for mayor. Well, when the ruling of the ombudsman spread like wildfire, Moreno must have said the same thing. It did spread with a heavy price.

I didn’t see it coming, too, because I was informed that if ever Moreno gets re-installed with the help of PCOS, he won’t be able to finish his term just the same because he would be removed by our courts as a result of the many cases filed against him. That’s why when I saw the post of Robert de la Serna, I double checked.

Early this year, I took interest in the Ajinomoto case because I used to be the firm’s branch manager in the city. It is unthinkable that nothing changed hands when an assessment of almost P3 million was reduced to a mere P300 thousand.

When I wrote my thoughts about it, city treasurer Glenn Bañez called up Ralph Abragan, and asked for a one-on-one meeting with me. “Ben is very unfair, insinuating that money changed hands,” he allegedly said.

It was from that meeting that I came to know about who put him (Bañez) in his present position––Speaker Sonny Belmonte. He said, “Belmonte sent me here to help Moreno collect the right taxes from businessmen.”

Bañez promised to give me documents to prove that there was no compromise agreement with Ajinomoto. He never did but Guialani did. Guialani gave me documents showing agreements with Ajinomoto. He even challenged the city council to invite him to prove his allegations and if proven wrong, he will issue a public apology.

Moreno didn’t know about the deal? Well, you can tell that to the marines. But Moreno’s excuse is patented, a ploy he is known to use when in trouble even when he was governor of Misamis Oriental. He feeds his men to the lions to free himself.

Supporters and detractors are feasting on the issue. It’s a free country. The bottom line is, Moreno made a wrong move and got his comeuppance. It’s not even the end of it. It’s just the beginning.

Having been indicted by the ombudsman notwithstanding his health, Dongkoy Emano may finally announce that his daughter Nadya is going to be his substitute.

For me, she isn’t a substitute. She is in fact the candidate the Padayon would like to surprise everyone with. But who is Nadya anyway?

One, she is a lawyer. Two, she has name recall, before and after marriage. Third, she has no negative record. The only question is, would Kagay-anons want another Emano in the city?

As for Dongkoy, from the bottom of my heart, I wish him well. And with this wish, I hope he will leave politics for good. You have nothing more to prove as you have already proven your domination of the city and provincial politics. But time is finite, so is your reign. Pahulay na, Bro.
