The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) issued its second tsunami advisory today at 1:43PM after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake jolted Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental located at 05.45 oN, 127.03 oE with depth of 54 km at 11:39 AM today.

Its advisory reads in part “As of this time, based on data from sea-level monitoring stations fronting the Pacific Ocean, there are no observed significant changes in sea level heights. If this situation continues for the next hour, it is assumed that the any minor sea level changes associated with this event has already passed.”

However, it said that people living near the shoreline along the following provinces of Surigao Del Norte, Surigao Del Sur, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Davao Del Norte, Davao Occidental, Davao City, Davao Del Sur, Sarangani, and South Cotabato should stay away from the beaches during this period 12PM to 2PM, and until minor sea level disturbance has passed.

It also advised boat owners to secure their boats and move away from the water front.
