The Department of Agriculture – 10 (DA-10) through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD-10) turned-over the Municipal Food Terminal (MFT) to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lala, Lanao del Norte recently at the Municipal Government Center, Lanipao, Lala of the said province.
Corazon E. Balabat, Food Terminal Focal Person of DA-10, said that the purpose of having the food terminal in the municipality is to serve as a venue for consolidation and storage of agriculture and fishery products of farmers and fisherfolks, reduce trading layers thereby increasing their income, improve marketing system, and to reduce transaction costs. The said MFT will also serve as a “Pasalubong Center”for the products of Lala such as rice, processed calamansi and seafood among others.
The MFT is worth Php 1.1 million; Php 1 Million of which camefrom DA-10 while the remaining Php100,000.00was from the LGU-Lala. The said budget covers the expenses on building structure, starting capital, freezer, chiller, and other equipment such as digital weighing scale and cash register. # (Cyrus Seraspe, DA-10 RAFIS).
