PILMICO Foods Corporation, the food agribusiness subsidiary of Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. has signed an Inclusive Sourcing Agreement with Matibugao Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Farmers’ Cooperative (MARBFC) during a simple ceremony held at Mulberry Hotel in Cagayan de Oro on March 7, 2018.

“True to our purpose of advancing business and communities, we continuously look for synergies that will help promote the agriculture industry,” said Chief Operating Officer of PILMICO Tristan Aboitiz.

Aboitiz said that their partnership with the Mantibugao Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Farmers’ Cooperative is a culmination of the hard work of their partners from the agriculture department, the local government of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon and most importantly, MARBFC.

“I am honored that Pilmico is a part of this pioneer project and we hope that the successful roll-out will serve as an example for more of these kinds of partnerships in the future,” Aboitiz said.

Corporate Communications and Media Relations supervisor Anna Carreon said the signing of the Agreement with MARBFC formalized the partnership that has been worked out through the support of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Corn Program Team and the local government of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

She said that the inclusive sourcing for corn – a primary ingredient in producing animal feed products – project aims to further support the local farming industry,

“This is the first time the agribusiness company has ventured in an inclusive sourcing program with a local farmers’ group. Under the agreement, Pilmico will be directly sourcing corn from MARBFC, which will serve a portion of Pilmico’s corn requirements for its various feeds products. Through the partnership, farmer-beneficiaries are provided with better market opportunities, thus improving farmer welfare,” she explained.

The agreement was signed by Tristan Aboitiz, COO, Pilmico Foods Corporation and Benjamin Magtajas, Chairman, Matibugao Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Farmers’ Cooperative in the presence of Christopher Camba, Aboitiz Equity Ventures VP for Government and External Relations, Mayor Clive Quiño, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, and Director Carlene Collado, Department of Agriculture Region 10.
