The plane was headed towards the 150-hectare banana plantation of Dole Philippines in Barangay Soriano, Cabadbaran City.

The area where the plane crash landed is about 34 kilometers from this city.

Tubay police chief Senior Insp. Mervin Labonera said the plane, bearing body no. RP-R5898, was loaded with chemicals.

He said it experienced engine trouble, crash landed, and slammed against a coconut tree.

The plane’s pilot, Edzel Luciano, and his aide cheated death but suffered a few bruises and wounds.

Police said the plane crash landed just a few meters away from a gasoline station in Barangay Dona Rosario.

Police have asked the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) to determine if the plane had a permit, check on the pilot’s license, and see why the accident happened.
