THERE would be a 12-hour power interruption in some parts of city on Sunday––this time, not because of line maintenance work of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP)  but because the Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co. (Cepalco) would replace a primary pole.

Cepalco spokesperson Marilyn Chavez announced that the primary pole replacement would result in a blackout, from 6 am to 5 pm, the following areas:

  • all of Mortola St., along JR Borja St. from Mortola St. up to corner Rizal St., including along Aguinaldo St. up to corner Justo Ramonal St.;
  • along Corrales Ave. from corner Justo Ramonal St. towards Ficco corner Fernandez St., including the cell site area;
  • from Corrales-Yacapin Sts. towards corner Rizal St.;
  • portions of T. Chaves St. from Corrales Ave. up to Tiano Bros. St.;
  • portions of A. Velez St. from Hayes St. to Grand City Hotel and VIP Hotel up to Yacapin St.;
  • along Pabayo St. from Gaerlan St. towards Yacapin St., including Cruz-Taal St. up to corner Velez St.; Gomez St. up to Tiano St.; Pacana St. up to Tiano St.; and
  • along Hayes St. from former Hall of Justice, including the City Health Office towards Pabayo St. up to Bagong Lipunan restaurant.

Two-hour blackouts, from 6 am to 8 am, and again at 4 pm to 6 pm, would be experienced from Hayes-Daumar Sts. up to the National Bookstore on JR Borja St..
