Supt. Surki Sereñas, Camp Alagar spokesman, said authorities also arrested Jose Booc Jr., 29, of Purok 9, Bagong Silang in Iligan.

Sereñas said Booc was arrested during a joint operation near the Lyceum College in Barangay Tubod, Iligan City, at around 7:45 pm Monday.

The suspect allegedly yielded a kilogram of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P5 million.

The PNP Crime Laboratory is examining the seized substance at presstime.

Chief Supt. Noel Constatino, police director for northern Mindanao, lauded the law enforcers for the big catch.

“We will  continue our campaign against  illegal  drugs  and will further intensify the war until the last pusher and drug trafficker are placed behind bars or neutralized,” Constantino said.

Sacked

Meanwhile in neighboring Caraga,  19 chiefs of police were ordered relieved due to their poor performance in the anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Chief Supt. Rolando Felix, Caraga police director, said the officials failed to attain the standards set by President Duterte in the intensified campaign to stop the widespread proliferation of illegal drugs in the region.

Among those relieved from their posts were the chiefs of police of the towns of Jabonga and Las Nieves in Agusan del Norte province; La Paz in Agusan del Sur; Cagdianao, Libjo and Loreto, three towns in Dinagat Islands;

Alegria, Bacuag, Malimono, San Benito, Burgos, Claver, Del Carmen, Gigaquit, Tubod and Sta. Monica in Surigao del Norte; and Tandag City, Cagwait and Cantilan in Surigao del Sur.

Felix added the move to replace the police officials was a result of an official evaluation of the performance of chiefs of police in line with the “Project Double Barrel” as of Aug. 15.

He said of the 77 police stations in Caraga, 19 performed “below par.”
