Police said the bomb, a 155mm ammunition used during World War II, has long been used as church bell without the knowledge of the unsuspecting church goers and chapel caretakers.

It was only discovered as a vintage bomb when a portion of wall of Senor San Isidro Labrador Chapel collapsed and one of the residents noticed that the chapel’s bell was a vintage bomb.

Police said the concerned villager quickly notified the Magallanes police.

Experts said the vintage bomb still posed threats.

The Explosive and Ordnance Unit from the Caraga police regional mobile group came and seized the bomb.
