Authorities identified the victim as Cheryl Dologen, 36, single, and a resident of Valderama, Sta. Filomena, this city and the assailant as Albert Bansalao, 43, married, and a resident of Ubaldo Laya, also of this city.

Dologen was teaching her class around 1 pm, Friday when Bansalao suddenly barged into the classroom and started stabbing the victim with a knife in full view of the children.

Investigation showed that Dologen tried to run away but fell down a flight of stairs.

The school watchman tried to help Dologen but Bansalao tried to stab the watchman too.

After stabbing the teacher, Bansalao fled riding his Honda Wave motorcycle.

The other teachers in the school rushed Dologen to the hospital but she was declared dead on arrival.

The victim’s father, Elsie Dologen, told police that Bansalao and his daughter used to be in a relationship when his daughter was teaching for the Alternative Learning System. Bansalao used to be Dologen’s student where they fell in love. The victim, however, ended their relationship when she discovered that Bansalao was already married.

Authorities said Basalao used to be a security guard of Solid Mart Marketing. He is from Lake Wood, Zamboanga del Sur.

The suspect is still at large.
