MAYOR Oscar Moreno sees no problem in granting the request of former Senate president Aquilino Pimentel, Jr. to name his landmark project, the convention center in Sitio Taguanao, Barangay Indahag, to the late former Mayor Pablo Magtajas as “Pablo Magtajas Auditorium.”

Moreno said Pimentel has already requested to rename the convention center the other year when Magtajas was still alive.

Moreno said Pimentel informed him that the land where the convention center was built on is owned by the Magtajas family.

Magtajas died of cardiac arrest in Cagayan de Oro Medical Center on June 19 at the age of 77 years old.

His body was interred last Monday at the Greenhill’s Memorial Park in Barangay Bulua, this city, beside the grave of his wife Anita Magtajas.

Moreno said Pimentel’s request is not hard to grant.

“We would be honored to have that convention center named after him (Magtahas),” Moreno said.

However, Moreno said they will still need the support of the city council since a city ordinance is needed to rename the convention center.

Naa pa kana’y mga rekisitos and the honor would be ours nga manganlan kana og  ‘Mayor Pablo Magtajas Auditorium,’” said Moreno.

Meanwhile, Moreno encouraged Senate president Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III to finish his father’s landmark project.

Gapaningkamotan gyud na ni Senate president Koko Pimentel nga matiwas kana nga  project og kahibalo ko nga naa na’y mga allocations para diha,” Moreno said.
