Respect Duterte’s decision, Emano says

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano when sought for comment by the media on Monday, suggested that hearing of Maute cases could be heard inside the military or police camps for safety and not too expensive compared to bringing it to Manila. Governor Emano said the Judiciary department could set up a court inside Camp Evangelista in Patag or in Camp Alagar in Lapasan, all in Cagayan de Pro, to hear the cases of the members of the Maute Family who are suspected to be behind the attack in Marawi City.

“Katungod sa matag usa ang pagpagawas sa ilang hunahuna. Bisan tuod ubos kita sa Martial Law karong panahona, apan aduna pa man gihapon kitay katungod sa pagpagawas sa atong hunahuna. Bisan gani ang nagkalain laing hut-ong sa katilingban susama sa IBP (integrated Bar of the Philippines) ug sa Sangguniang Panlalawigan mipagawas sa ilang kabalaka. Apan alang kanako wala kitay korte dinhi bisan gani ang uban korte nag-abang. Kung mag-hearing usab didto sa kaulohan, daku ang galastuhan sa plitehan sa mga witnesses. Kung mahimo, the Judiciary could put up a court inside camp Evangelista for safety and less expensive,” the governor said.

But Governor Emano clarified: “It’s up to the President.” “But at the end of the day, we will respect the decision of the President…the Judiciary,” he added and called on authorities to assess deeply the present situation in Mindanao or any other areas where to hold the hearing of one of the biggest and most controversial cases in Philippine history.
