The prestigious search which recognizes the role of volunteerism in development and nation-building is still open for nominations.

Deadline for submission of nominations is on July 15.

Filipino citizens, Filipino volunteer organizations and local chapters of foreign volunteer organizations that currently provide volunteer assistance in the Philippines are eligible to participate in the 2018 Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV).

The search aims to highlight the exemplary performance and dedication to service of Filipino volunteers in helping people and communities.

The SOV has two categories: National Outstanding Volunteer Award (Nova) and the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award (VLAA).

The Nova is given to an individual or organization for outstanding volunteer service that has made a significant contribution in uplifting the lives of people and communities served.

A Nova nominee must be 15 to 30 years old for the youth category and at least 31 years old for the adult category at the time of submission of the nomination.

The nominee must have been providing volunteer assistance consistently for at least three years for the youth category and five years for the adult category.

He or she must be a member of a volunteer organization or institution registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission or the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency or other duly recognized accredited government institution; or recognized as a volunteer by the local government, local institution or community being provided with volunteer services.

For Nova organization nominees, they must be providing volunteer assistance consistently for five years for the not-for-profit category and three years for the corporate category.

The organization must also be registered with the SEC or PNVSCA or other duly recognized accredited government organization or recognized as a volunteer by the local government, local institution or community being provided with volunteer services.

The VLAA, on the other hand, is given to an individual or organization for consistent and outstanding volunteer service and whose achievement is regarded as an inspiration and role medal in the field of volunteerism.

The nominee must have been engaged in consistent volunteering services for at least 25 years; a recipient of regional, national or international awards in relation to volunteerism and has not been found guilty of crime or offense involving moral turpitude, in the case of individual nominees.
