CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The committee on subdivision and landed estate of the city council is now ironing out the acquisition of a lot in barangay lumbia as a housing area for Sendong survivors who have not been relocated until now. City councillor Alexander Dacer, who chairs the committee, is asking the owner of the 10 hectares lot to attend the committee meeting in order to finalize the acquisition.

“Ang broker raman ang gatunga so unsaon namo pagplastar sa tanan,” he said adding that he is going to clarify some issues regarding the title and the supposed public highways project in the area.

Dacer said that the acquisition is part of the donation of Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) under the memorandum of agreement between the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD 10) and the city government.

He said Jica will donate 722 housing units for Sendong survivors. “Saad ni sa Jica sa panahon pa ni Dongkoy sauna,” he said.

He said aside from a lot in Lumbia, the city government has another prospect but have yet to be endorsed to the committee. Dacer said that the listing of DSWD 10 and city government on the Sendong survivors that would benefit the housing should be consistent.

The council on Monday’s session would want to make sure that only legitimate survivors should avail the housing. City Councilor Ramon Tabor fears that there would be a conflict later on the legitimate list of Sendong survivors.

“Kato untang tinuod gyud nga mga biktima and the only way to do that is to compare and resolve the legitimate list between the city government and DSWD,” said Tabor.

Tabor also reminds the survivors who would avail the housing to really occupy the house and not to return from the areas badly hit by Sendong.

“Sayang ang gidonar kung dili mapuy-an,” he said.
