SPO3 Ronie Donasco, Agora police investigator, identified the victim as Benedicto Roda, 64, a native of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental but presently staying at the area.

It is believed Roda had a heart attack while he was swimming.

Donasco said witnesses saw the victim in the area where he swam.

Later, they began to notice Roda was in trouble and they quickly pulled him from the water.

Attempts to revive the victim by resuscitation were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.

Marivic Roda, the victim’s sister-in-law said, the latter has long been separated from his wife and his children are living in Bolonsori, Barangay Camaman-an.

Naa man na siya’y sakit sa kasing-kasing kay sa una giataki na na siya mibalik seguro iyang sakit,” Marivic said.

Roda’s loved ones decided not to subject the body to an autopsy as they were convinced there was no foul play involved.

After embalming, the body will be brought to Tagoloan.
