HUNDREDS of employees of Smart Communications trooped to various public schools all over the country for this year’s Brigada Eskwela.

Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week is held nationwide and involves parents, alumni, civic groups, local businesses, non-government organizations, teachers, students, and individuals who volunteer their time and skills to do repairs, maintenance work, and clean-up public schools. This nationwide caravan is held simultaneously across the country’s 16 regions.

Smart has been mobilizing its employees for more than a decade and encourages them to do community work in select schools. Their tasks include repainting walls, repairing and painting tables, chairs and cabinets; wiping windows; and even doing some gardening and landscaping.

Smart Communications provided to Doong National High School of Bantayan Island in Northern Cebu its first signage as part of its efforts for Brigada Eskwela. The school sustained damages and lost its signage following Typhoon Yolanda.

Two other schools from neighboring islets, Botigues and Lipayran, also received their own signages.

Smart employees volunteer to help prepare public schools all over the country for returning students this month.
