THE mother of murdered teenager Stacey Villar yesterday repeatedly burst into tears as she spoke about her coffined daughter, and about her dreams for her minutes before the murder victim was laid to rest at the Divine Shepherd Memorial Gardens in Bulua yesterday afternoon.

“I was her father and mother,” Merideth “Madet” Mah, in tears, told relatives, friends, neighbors, and members of the Abba’s Orchard School where Stacey was an 8th grader.

Over a thousand people, including provincial board member Enan Emano, city councilor Nadya Emano, and city police director Senior Supt. Faro Antonio Olaguera, attended the funeral.

The Abba’s Orchard School here suspended classes yesterday to allow its faculty and pupils to pay their last respects to the 14-year old Villar whose murder came as a shock to the entire campus––and the city.

Nearly everyone wore white, and Abba’s Orchard pupils wore shirts with this message: “#JusticeforStacyVillar.” It was an emotional day full of symbols as Stacey was laid to rest.

On her white coffin was her school’s football uniform with her number “8”. The shirt along with her bag and other personal belongings were buried with the murdered teenager.

Many white balloons were also released to the sky during the funeral. People cried as Stacey’s mother spoke about her plans for her daughter.

When Stacey’s father Anselmo “Jun” Quisumbing Villar Jr. died in 2009, Mah said she did her best to serve as “father and mother” to their only child.

Mah said she tried to give her daughter everything that she needed the best way possible. She said she even planned to work abroad as a nurse so she could give Stacey a bright future.

Mah said all she wanted was to see Stacey finish her studies but she was devastated when all her dreams and plans were gone “in the blink of an eye.”

She said it would be “nice” for her to be with her daughter again. Mah broke into tears again, and completely lost her composure as the white coffin was being laid to the ground.
