LTFRB-10 Regional Director Aminodin Guro said they have already issued the order to all public utility vehicle’s within the region to implement the Oct. 11 Memorandum Circular issued by LTFRB chairman Atty. Martin Delgra III.

“Students can avail of the twenty percent (20%) discount from Monday to Sunday including summer breaks, legal, and special holidays. Daghan naman gud complaint via social media asking LTFRB (to grant) them fare discounts even sa weekend. Mo-start na kita sa Sabado,“ he said.

He said despite granting the request of the students, they are still reminded to show their school IDs when they ride.

Guro added those who can avail the fare discounts are only in the undergraduate level like elementary, high school, and college level.

However, post-graduate students from colleges and universities still need to pay in full, such as students studying medicine, law, as well as those taking masters or doctorate degrees.

“Out of school youth ang dili pud apil sa diskwento kay wala sila’y school ID nga ikapakita,” he added.

The order is an amendment of the previous LTFRB memorandum order 2005-014 granting fare discount to elderly, disabled persons, and students pursuant to Executive Order 202.

For his part, Starex-Piston secretary general Ringo Lago said they will follow what was ordered by LTFRB central office Manila considering that most of the students are still getting support from their respective parents.

Consuelo de bobo lamang kini sa LTFRB tungod sa ubay-ubay nga batikos kanila,” he said.
