By the time you’re reading this, I’ll be in Osaka, Japan. Osaka will be my third stop during my Japan tour this year – after Tokyo and Kyoto. I’m pretty excited to be in the Land of the Rising Sun – especially since late November is often the peak season for autumn (the Japanese call the changing of the colors of the leaves “Koyo Season”). Can’t wait to see rich autumn foliage, experience chilly autumn weather and yes, share lots of Japan budget travel tips with all of you! Just continue reading my humble “Mindanaoan Meets World” newspaper column and Mindanaoan.com blog.

Anyway, I actually did something that had a touch of Japan even before I actually went to Japan! I visited a superb, much-talked about Yakiniku buffet restaurant in Cebu and savored okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake), lots of ramen (yum!) and grilled squid and salmon (the Japanese love their seafood!). Of course, I also tried all of the other delicious offerings at Tokyo Table, Cebu’s most favorite buffet restaurant.

Located at City Time Square, Mantawi Avenue, Tipolo, Mandaue City, Tokyo Table Cebu serves an impressive array of food choices – from raw meats that you can grill on your own or with the able assistance of the restaurant’s friendly staff (each table has a grill plate) to a sushi, dimsum and ramen station to an Asian favorites section (watch out for the lechon macau) to a mouthwatering desserts area that virtually had a lot of my personal favorites and to a pretty good salad bar. I must say, it was a bit difficult to decide what to put on my plate so I did the next best thing – just get a small portion of almost every dish and just experience, savor, appreciate.

Other things about Tokyo Table that I like – the clean interiors, very attentive staff and the number and quality of food choices. Visit Tokyo Table Cebu to see exactly what I mean. I bet you’ll be as impressed as I was!

Tokyo Table serves lunch and dinner. Their fees already include unlimited rounds of sodas, iced tea and lemonades. They can also serve you coffee. They have private rooms, by the way, just in case you and your friends want to have a little privacy. You can also hold small gatherings there.
