THE National Telecommunications Commission (NTC 10) plans to reactivate its old task force to address the ‘spaghetti wire’ problems of the city once and for all.

It can be recalled in 2002 NTC 10 formed an ICT Task Force on Cables and Wires wherein the Cagayan Electric Power and Lights Corp. Inc., as well as other telecommunications and cable TV companies have volunteered to fix the wire problems in the city.

“What had happened is that new wires and cables were seen hanging on the previously cleaned and secured lines along the streets, multiple post are still around and many business establishments in the city are asking to clean the messy wires in their presence and others,” NTC 10 regional director Teodoro Buenavista said.

For this reason, NTC plans to reactivate the said group to deal with the problem and asked city hall to amend the previous ordinance and to impose higher tax or penalty on users of the wires and cables that are hanging and in shambles in the city.
