Uy said the coalition was finalized through Sen. Aquilino Martin Pimentel III, the president of PDP-Laban.

In an interview at the sidelines of her oathtaking ceremony at the Villanueva town gymnasium recently, Uy said she is just waiting for Duterte’s state of the nation address (Sona) on July 25, barely a month after he assumes the presidency, so she will know what is the President’s priority programs under his administration.

She said she is hoping that through the political alliance of the NUP with the PDP-Laban, she can receive more assistance from Malacanang for her legislative district.

“I promised that whatever aid I can get from the Duterte administration I will download it my constituents in the barangays,” Uy said.

Among the aid package that Uy hopes to avail from Malacanang include social services, scholarship program, health, and infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Uy’s oathtaking became emotional when she broke down in tears as she was sworn in in front of her hundreds of supporters whom she said had sacrificed so much during the campaign in the last May 9 elections.

“Thank you for your sacrifices, your support to us in the last election,” she told the crowd, adding that she will repay the people’s confidence in her through delivery of “genuine public service.”

“I can assure that I will continue the services that I have given you during my first term,” she added.

Uy won by 139,830 votes against her opponents, former Congressman Agusto Baculio, who garnered 79,392 votes and Manuel Poe, who got 2,833 votes.

Uy took her oath before Judge Wilfred Yacapin, the presiding judge at the Tagoloan and Villanueva municipal circuit trial courts.
