REPORTS have already reached me that there have been people who interfere with the work of traffic enforcers who were reportedly told to take it easy or even leave their posts because the city is now allegedly under a new administration.

The motive of this interference is clearly to intimidate the traffic officers on the road and in the offices doing support work, and undermine what positive things the RTA has been doing for the community.

As if discontented with the obstacles that they have put up, the obstructionists are now training their sights on the vulnerability of the RTA employees with “dili na mo ra nenew.”

Some of these “terminators” are also reportedly making rounds and asking and listing the names of the RTA personnel.  I don’t see any other motive in this except to intimidate employees–basin dili ma-renew or basin ilabay.  For why in the world should people who don’t even identify themselves do the reported acts?

As I have reminded the good men and women of the RTA, it is best to be loyal to your jobs.  Don’t be intimidated by the presence of persons who tell you negative stories about employment.

Those “terminators” succeed only if you get intimidated by them.

Other reports that reached me are the varying reactions of motorists about the strict implementation of the traffic rules on the road.  Some drivers agree with what the TFHD-RTA, the Cocpo Traffic Unit, and the dedicated volunteer groups are doing, while some others are irked by the high amount of traffic fines.

As we have been saying repeatedly, the administrative fines that the traffic violators are required to pay to the city government for violations of traffic rules are found in the Traffic Code that was enacted in 2007.  It is not a new imposition and there is no new table of penalties for traffic violations.

One difference then and now is that the implementation prior to 2013 was based more on connections with city hall rather than what the law provided.
