Balingoan police SPO4 Dante Cabactulan identified the suspect as town councilor Roel Padillo.

Padillo was arrested Saturday inside his resident in Barangay Mantangale when the police and PDEA-10 operatives served a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Giovanni Alfred H. Navarro of Regional Trial Court Branch 27 based in Gingoog City.

He said Padillo was arrested through the joint effort of the elements of the PDEA-10 and team of Balingoan Police led by Senior Insp. Noel Gabriel, the local chief of police.

Authorities were able to seize 14 assorted sizes of sachets of suspected shabu, Cabactulan said.

He added that the total haul of illegal drugs confiscated from the possession of Padillo weighed at 30 grams and is estimated to be worth P150 thousand.

He used to serve as a barangay kagawad in 2004 and became a barangay chairman of Bauk-bauk in 2010.

Padillo ran for municipal councilor in Balingoan under the ticket of Mayor Aaron Unabia in the 2016 elections.

He won as a town councilor in 2013 and was reelected in 2016.
