Toyota has breached the one million unit sales in April this year with total sales of 1,000,468 units since it started its operation in the Philippines in 1988. Half of the number was sold in the last eight years.

“The milestone does not only speak of the number of Toyota vehicles on the road. More importantly, this number represents the many customers who have put their trust on the Toyota brand,” TMPC Chair George S.K. Ty said on the other hand.

Ty said that Toyota’s presence in the Philippines had contributed to the national and social developments.

To date, TMPC and its suppliers and dealers have over 48,000 employees nationwide.

For the export industry, Toyota Group suppliers have generated USD 11 billion in export earnings since 1997.

The company has also contributed to National Government’s (NG) revenue with Php 174-billion worth of taxes and duties since 1988. About Php79 billion of the said amount was remitted to the NG in the last five years during the leadership of Commissioner Kim Henares in the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

TMPC has also invested more than Php 36 billion for its operation in the country and is expected to invest more with the approval of Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (Cars) Program. pna
