HERE goes the Filipino people again. They did everything, in a frenzied manner yet, so they can celebrate and commemorate Christmas 2018 on December 25. Unfortunately, however, it is not too difficult to discern that, once again, their festivities immortalizing the coming of Jesus to earth do not really conform to His teachings and to the known doctrines of Christianity.

You ask me why I say this? Look at the news. From the Luneta Park in Manila to the Riverbanks in Marikina City and in plenty of other places across the country that prides itself in its Christian faith, there is one uniform complaint coming from the authorities.

Filipinos professing the Christian faith once again left tons of garbage right on the very day they were commemorating the “birth” of Jesus.

This certifies to the undeniable truth that Filipinos truly do not know, in their hearts and in their minds, the real value and meaning of their faith, and of the coming of Jesus to this world.

To a great many of them, Christmas means nothing more anymore but simply self-satisfaction, and crash materialism. Why, if they are true followers of Jesus, the Christians who celebrated Christmas I mean, should they not have taken care of their waste and trash, and not have left them lying around, on the very day even of His supposed birth?

If we closely examine the Christian Bible, we will not fail to see that there are commands in its verses whose objective is the maintenance of cleanliness of any given place. For example, in Deuteronomy 23:14, it is there stated that cleanliness is tantamount to godliness or holiness. These verses say that cleanliness must be maintained at all times, to make it godly or holy.

Why would there be a need for cleanliness and holiness of a place? The reason is that, God passes through, or comes to, these places when He dispenses His blessings, guidance, and protection to those who faithfully and sincerely obey His commands, whether that place is inside or outside the home of a believer.

Now, if a place is dirty (or full of trash or garbage, as in the case of Luneta and the Riverbanks), God is never to treat it as holy or godly, so that He will not “pass through” it, He will not go to it, even as He will never grant His blessings, guidance, and protection in that place. This is one reason why, I believe, places which are teeming with garbage and reeking with trash are usually the places where life is difficult and hard.

What is more, the truth is that God knows who made a place (the home, the workplace) dirty. These people will never be granted blessings, guidance, and protection by and from God, because by dirtying one’s place with their garbage and trash, they transgress His commands about cleanliness.

According to many other verses of the Bible, the people who disregard and violate the commands of God are allowed by Him to be destroyed by poverty and by abuse by other men, or by being finally decimated here on earth, or in eternal life.

It is therefore very important for all people to be clean and tidy in their homes or in all the other places that they go to. They must always remember that all of these places are owned by God, no less, which are His footstool, which cannot be desecrated with waste or garbage by anyone. I am praying that our readers here will desist from throwing their garbage just anywhere, for their own sake!
