Police said the drivers — Mario Rivera of Balo-i,  Lanao del Norte, and Rose Marie Magno of Barangay Indahag, this city — went to the Carmen police station the following day.

Rivera drove the truck that knocked down 30-year old Winmar Mingo of Barangay Lumbia while Magno was the driver of a Toyota Wigo that ran over and finished the victim off on the road.

SPO4 Ricky Amparado said Rivera and Magno, a public school teacher, sped off after the accidents.

Amparado however said Rivera and Magno were not charged after the drivers and Mingo’s family reached an out-of-court settlement.

“Nasabutan,  both parties, nga ilang tabangan sa gasto ang pamilya sa biktima, ug ilang ihatag ang insurance  claim,” Amparado said.

He said Magno told investigators that she had thought that Mingo, who was sprawling on the road after he was hit by a truck, was merely a speed hump.

“Abi kuno niya (Magno) og hump lang, ma-o  tong wala na niya likayi,” said Amparado.

Mingo was hit by the truck, with license plates TFV-407, while he was driving a motorcycle on his way home to Lumbia from Carmen at around 1:40 am Friday. Police said the truck driver fled after the accident.

While sprawled on the road, a speeding Toyota Wigo, bearing license plates A2X-850, from Lumbia ran over Mingo. Police said the car driver fled, too.

Mingo was rushed to the Northern   Mindanao Medical Center by concerned citizens but he was declared dead on arrival.
