KIDAPAWAN City — Two members of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) and a pregnant mother were killed when waylaid by still unidentified gunmen at Barangay Ginatilan, Pikit, police said.
Chief Insp. Romy Castanares, officer-in-charge of the Pikit Police, identified the victims as Ronald Lachica and Richard Wacan, both members of the Cafgu of the 38th Infantry Battalion based in Pikit.
Also killed during the attack was a pregnant mother identified as Hasna Muhammad who was onboard a motorbike and hit by stray bullets, Castanares said.
Reports reaching Pikit PNP said the two Cafgu members were onboard a motorbike at around 1:45 pm Monday and were on their way to Barangay Ginatilan when waylaid by the gunmen.
It was also the time when the habal-habal (extended motorcycle) where Muhammad and her daughter were onboard passed by. Muhammad was seated at the back and hit by one of the bullets fired at by the gunmen against their targets.
Muhammad’s daughter and the habal-habal driver survived the shooting.
Castanares hinted personal grudge as one of the motives in the shooting incident.
Barangay Ginatilan is near the town’s Poblacion where Lachica and Wacan were assigned as Cafgu members, reports read.
Castanares, however, is still clueless as to the group behind the killing. (mindanews)
