The suspects, PO1 Jun Riel Barrientos and PO2 Manuel Quipanes, were then brought to the Lumbia jail for detention after they presented themselves in the sala of Judge Henry Damasing of the Regional Trial Court Branch 24, said city police director Senior Supt.  Faro Antonio Olaguera.

Barrientos and Quipanes were charged with double murder in connection with the shooting deaths of siblings Harold and  Roland Jamaca whose bodies were found in the morning of Dec. 11 in Barangay Mambuaya.

The Jamaca brothers were with two other victims, Ma. Erica Yabut and Jim Jamaca, who were brought to and attacked in FS Catanico. Jim Jamaca, the lone survivor, subsequently identified the FS Catanico assailants as Senior Insp. Charles Ludwig Espera and Insp. Arnel Gighe who recently bailed out.

Supt. Lemwel Gonda, city police chief for planning and operations, said Barrientos and Quipanes were immediately taken to the city jail by Chief Insp. Joepet Paglinawan of the Carmen police after investigators took their mugshots and fingerprints,  among others, at the Maharlika Headquarters.

Retired SPO4  Rolando Jamaca, Harold and Roland Jamaca’s father, said the surrender of Barrientos and Quipanes was a welcome development.

“Mas maayo kana kay aron ilang matubag ang kasong sumbong sa korte,” he said.
