Station 5 Police Chief Investigator Glenn Janog at Poblacion, this city in a report said that the Wing Van Fuso Cargo Truck owned by Jumar Commercial of Cagayan de Oro, driven by one Mark Anthony Balaba, 24, a resident of Upper Bolonsori,  Cagayan de Oro City and loaded with assorted products, had just traversed the Tambacan bridge at around 12:30 am Tuesday, at Mariano Badelles Street.

It was learned that upon reaching the end of the bridge, the van swerved sideward to the left in an effort to avoid hitting an oncoming motorcycle, driven by one Jess Infante. In so doing, it hit a commercial building owned by Padilla family, instead.

The first floor of the building took the brunt of the collision.
