BUTUAN City — Vigilante-type of killers have struck again in Caraga Region. This time killing a brother of a suspected shabu pusher who was earlier arrested by police in Placer, Surigao del Norte in July, this year.

Placer Municipal Police office identified the victim as Julieto Gallardo Bayocot, 50, married, resident of Purok 4, Barangay Tagbongabong, Placer, Surigao del Norte who is currently working as company driver of Greenstone Mining Company operating Tubod, Surigao del Norte.

The fatality is the older brother of Romel Gallardo Bayocot, alleged drug peddler in Barangay Tagbongabong, Placer who was arrested by Placer police in July 2016.

Initial investigation revealed the fatality was riding his motorcycle traversing the national highway in  Barangay Bugas-bugas, Placer when the suspects riding in tandem  tailing him overetook and shot the victim several times using a 9mm caliber pistol causing the victim to fall to the concrete pavement.

Investigators said the fatality sustained six gunshot wounds to different parts of his body.

Four empty shells of 9mm were recovered at the crime scene.

The victim was brought to Surigao del Norte Provincial Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Bayocot was the 45th victim of vigilante-type of attacks in Caraga Region alone.
