Mindanaoan Meets World

One of the things I feel really fortunate to do is to be where the action is. Like be able to fly to where an important event is and be able to cover it, take photos and videos and share them to my valued followers. To just basically be in the middle of all the ruckus.

Take this week, for instance. As I’m writing this, I’m currently in Manila and just witnessed first-hand Senator Grace Poe’s pronouncement of her intention to run for President. I first met her during the 2013 elections. She was introduced to me by Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, whom I’ve known for quite a long time already. Two years later, she seemed to be the same “Amazing Grace.” But I digress.

Anyway, she made the announcement here at UP Bahay ng Alumni. Thousands of people came – lots of celebrities, politicians and supporters from all over the country. Senator Grace’s immediate family and relatives all came in full force. And it was quite exciting and interesting for me to listen to her and see her onstage, ending her speech with “Ako po si Grace Poe. Pilipino. Anak, asawa at ina, at sa tulong ng Mahal na Diyos ay inaalay ko sa inyong lahat ang aking sarili sa mas mataas na paninilbihan bilang inyong Pangulo.”

To be able to hear her say that live and to be right there when she did – that was pretty cool.

Other events that I’m set to witness this week are Senator Chiz’s announcement at Club Filipino, South Border’s regular Thursday gig at 19East and Oktoberfest Grand Opening at Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. Do watch out for my updates about those here on Mindanaoan Meets World.
