THERE is a raging discussion that is going on in various social networking sites at present, in connection with the right of the leaders and members of a big church to meddle on how the government should be run. This fiery exchange of ideas was prompted by the prayer rally that was held at the Edsa Shrine and at the People Power monument in Edsa on Nov. 5, 2017.

The object of discussion among netizens is focused on the right of the big church to intervene on events happening in the country, particularly on the issue of extrajudicial killings being attributed to the war on drugs of President Duterte. At the center of the discussions is the doctrine of the separation of church and state, under the 1987 Constitution.

As far as I am concerned, all people have a right to intervene on grave issues confronting the nation. The simple reason is that, all are affected as to how the issues would turn out to be, especially if they involve extrajudicial killings. The only question here is this: how did our country have this debilitating drugs problem today? Was it not because those who want to meddle now on the war on drugs were suspiciously silent when illegal drugs were ravaging the country?

Once again, the United States shook the world dramatically on Sunday when nearly 30 churchgoers who were having praise and worship activities inside a church in Texas were killed by a lone gunman.

There seems to be no end to these killings in the US now, especially so since in another part of the country just recently, many died from gunshots that were fired in a concert in Las Vegas.

Why is this happening? This was written in the Bible. Let us read what Jesus, our God and Savior, said in John 16:1-2: “All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God…”

Why would anyone even think of killing others, especially those who believe and worship God? It is because what the Bible prophesied to happen before the world is to end—the time of “spiritual forces of darkness” reigninh in the minds of many people–is already happening around the world.

If we are not convinced yet that what the Bible is saying about many things are all true, especially on the approaching end of the world, we now have to change our minds and start believing in earnest all that is written in that Book. It is clear, for instance, that the signs about the end of time written in its verses are now all coming true.

The Bible-prophesied earthquakes and famine are now happening everywhere, and so are the wars and rumors of wars between countries and kingdoms. Also coming true now is the rise of many who will blaspheme and claim they are the new Christ, with many people becoming more and more sinful. Then, calamities never before heard, particularly those affecting the environment, are also occurring now, as warned by the Bible.

The Bible says if we see all of these things happening, it is certain that the prophesied end is about to happen. This may not happen real soon, but it can no longer be prevented from arriving. The only question for many now is this: are we ready when the end finally comes? If we do not know how to prepare for the end, we truly have a frightening problem in our hands!
