JIMENEZ, Misamis Occidental – Job seekers flocked to the annual career job fair held at Jimenez town gymnasium here on January 14.

Aimed to provide employment opportunities to new entrants to the labor force, jobseekers, or career shifters, the Jimenez Job Fair 2019 is in line with the celebration of its 161st founding anniversary. Further, this is geared towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for economic advancement and improved standard of living.

The job fair is also intended to supply companies that are in need of manpower with qualified applicants.

Mayor Rosario Balais said the celebration was a perfect opportunity for Jimeneznons and Misamisnons to land a job, where seven employers in various fields participated in the undertaking.

Balais also expressed her optimism that the series of job fairs in partnership with private groups and institutions would reduce the unemployment rate and promote industrial peace in the municipality.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) representative Jasmin Vicente, meanwhile said that the department is tasked to facilitate and help job applicants join such fairs, even as she appreciated the efforts of Jimenez municipal government.

She also said that one should never stop applying for a job. “Always keep on trying,” Vicente said.

There were three local companies that joined the job fair—Vicente Lao Construction, Jolly Management Solution Inc and Citi Hardware while four overseas recruitment agencies which include Thru-force International, SMC Manpower Agency, Maanyag International and EastWest Placement Center Inc.
