ZAMBOANGA City– The city government has advised the residents along river banks and coastal areas to take precautionary measures in the light of the inclement weather. Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head, issued the advice after this city experienced intermittent heavy downpour since Thursday.
Apolinario said they have also advised the barangay officials and members of the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (BDRRMCs) to constantly monitor the situation in their respective area.

Apolinario said the barangay officials and BDRRMCs have been told to take necessary steps to safeguard the people’s lives and properties as the situation demands. Weather observer Pecson Abduraup of PAGASA’s local weather station said the inclement weather is brought about by the low pressure area (LPA) at 295 kilometers east of Mindanao embedded along the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) across the Visayas. Abduraup said they continue to monitor the weather condition although there is no possibility the LPA will develop into a typhoon. pna
