A MODULAR power generation set capable of providing the Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co. (Cepalco) 10 megawatts more has remained idle in Barangay Tablon here because its use has yet to be given the green light by the Energy Regulatory Commission  (ERC).

Cepalco’s sister company Minergy has leased the generating set from a firm called Aggreko International Power.

Cepalco senior vice president Ralph Paguio said the modular power generator has been set up at the Minergy plant but could not be used because the ERC has yet to approve Cepalco’s application.

“Ready na kana nga generating equipment, ang kulang nalang ana ang approval ra gyud sa ERC. So gahulat kami sa Cepalco sa provisional approval gikan sa ERC,” Paguio said.

He said the facility was set up first at the Minergy plant in Tablon before Cepalco submitted a petition to ERC to allow the use of the 10 mw from the modular generator. The petition was filed as early as Ocober.

“Kon magamit pa lang unta nato kanang 10  megawatts nga modular generating plant, dako na unta kaayo kanag ikatabang sa power supply dinhi sa atong syudad,” Paguio said.
