DAVAO City – Less than one month to go till the 13th Acosta cup championship games on Dec 11 and game officials are already preparing for the big day.

This year, 5 participating teams namely: Philippine College of Technology (PCT), Soya Football Club, D’ Davao Survivors (D’DS), UP Mindanao Football Club and Aguilas Dabaw Football Club.  For the past weekends these teams set the Tionko Field on fire as they kick their way to the championship.

For 13 years, it has been the aim of the Office of Councilor Acosta to promote the sport of football among young women as well as give them a healthy and wholesome avenue of developing their talent and love of the sport.

Acosta 2016 commenced last October 8, 2016 between PCT vs. Soya. The first game ended with a draw, 1-1, followed by D’DS vs. UP scoring 9-2. On October 9, PCT Khanj players showed a spectacular match against Aguilas and ended the game with a score of 0-3.  Second game at 3:00pm with Soya vs. D’DS and finished the game with 1-4 score.

Soya Football Club players smashed the first game of October 15 against UP scoring 5-2. A tough fight between PCT and D’DS then followed. The match caught the two teams in 1-2 score, with the latter as winner. On October 22, D’DS and UP gave each other a good fight with a strong defense and offense. Amidst the scorching heat of the sun, the two teams were determined to kick their way to the finals. In the end, D’DS won with the score 4-3. October 23 was scheduled between UP and Aguilas. UP gave Aguilas a hard time scoring, thus led them to victory with 1-3.

Just before the Halloween, a match between Soya and Aguilas was held. Aguilas ended the week in their favour scoring 1-3 at the end of the game. PCT and UP’s game was a blast! PCT energetically swept the whole game with a banging score of 13-1 leaving big smiles to the players of the former.

Aguilas and D’DS was scheduled on the first game of October 30. Aguilas won with 8-2 then followed right after by SOYA vs. UP scoring a huge gap of 12-1.
