Libertad chief of police Capt. Rham Camelotes said a Fuso wing van with plate number KVX-261 crashed into the rear portion of a Rural Transit passenger bus with plate number USQ-656. As a result, a motorcycle that was tailing the bus went straight and hit a pedestrian.

The wing van was en route to the city while the bus and the motorcycle were going the opposite way.

Traffic investigators said four accident victims — the motorcycle driver, two of his passengers, and the pedestrian — were rushed to the Initao provincial hospital. However, the driver of the motorcycle and the pedestrian were declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Authorities have yet to identify all four of the victims of the accident at press time.

Capt. Princess Velarde, Misamis Oriental provincial police spokesperson, was able to identify the drivers as Ritchie Montecalbo, driver of Fuso wing van bearing plate no. KVX 261; and April Vincent Bangcuyo, 28, of Zone 2, San Pedro, Initao, Misamis Oriental, who was the driver of Rural Transit with plates USQ-656

“Pagka bangaan sa wing van ngadto sa bus mikiay ang bus. Timing nga adunay motor  nga nagdagan duol niini naigo pud. Ang maong motor mipadulong pud sa usa ka tawo nga gatabok unta sa maong dalan,” Velarde said.

The drivers are now detained at the Initao police headquarters pending the filing of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide cases.
