A LOW-PRESSURE area that brought intermittent rains yesterday is hovering over Palao Island in the Pacific Ocean and threatens to enter Mindanao, a government weather specialist said.
Weather specialist Luz Mercado of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration-Mindanao Station in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental, said the LPA is about 1,295 kilometers east of Davao City at presstime.
However, she said they cannot determine if the LPA would turn into a storm when it enters the Philippine area.
“Ato kining gibantayan og maayo karon kay basin mag-merge ning maong LPA ug cloud cluster formation didto sa Marianas Island. Basin makakuha pa siyag dugang strength,” Mercado said.
Mercado said the overcast clouds and rainy weather experienced since dawn yesterday was brought about by the extension of the LPA which is forecast to enter the country via Mindanao in the coming days. (Nitz Arancon)
