BUTUAN City– Three suspects including a minor were arrested and more than P150thousand  pesosworth of illegal drugs, firearm and drug paraphernalia were seized by the authorities in a raid at a coastal municipality of Surigao del Norte on Wednesday afternoon.

Reports reaching the regional police headquarters here on Thursday from Surigao del Norte Police said that at about 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, a team from Claver Municipal Police Station implemented Search Warrant No. 2015-06 for possible violation of Republic Act 9165 Art. II, Section 11 and 2015-07 for possible violation the same law, Art. II, Section 12

The arresting team was led by PSInsp. Rommel S. Cacayan, the police municipal chief in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 13.

The arrest warrants were issued by Judge Cesar P. Bordalba of RTC 10th Judicial Region, Branch 31, Dapa, SurigaodelNorte.

The raid resulted in the arrest of the subject Ever Febrero y Gede, 30, a.k.a. “Eber/Tony”, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Hayanggabon, Claver, SurigaodelNorte.

Another suspect identified as a certain Rene C. Salera, 26; a transient resident of the said place but a native of Kalubian, Leyte was also apprehended.

A minor was also arrested (name withheld) with items confiscated from his possession: an improvised Totter, 2 bundles of empty transparent plastic sachets, a bamboo clipper with a needle attached, an improvised blue torch, a lighter and a roll of aluminum foil.

The conduct of the orderliness of the search and seizure was witnessed by Barangay Chairman Rito I. Placencia of the said barangay, Mr. Jessie L. Digol, representing the provincial Department of Justice and a media representative.

The inventory and markings of the evidence were done at the area of operation. The suspects refused to sign and acknowledge the items seized as reflected in the receipt inventory of the properly seized items to include the certification of orderly search. All witnesses, however, signed the receipts.

The suspects with all confiscated items were immediately brought to Claver MPS for proper disposition, while cases for Violation of Section 11, 12; Art. II of RA 9165 and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition were being prepared against the suspects. (PNA)
