59 young professionals to join FDC Misor

AS power plant nears completion a total of 59 young professionals, mostly from Misamis Oriental, will soon go on board the FDC Misamis Power Corporation (FDC Misamis) as a simple graduation ceremony and welcome party was recently held at the Xavier Estates Sports and Country Club in Cagayan de Oro City.

The dual rites marked the commencement of a working relationship between the FDC Misamis and the 59 soon-to-be plant operators, technicians and engineers who underwent a six-month Cadetship Training Program (CTP) for coal-fired power plant operations that started in May this year.  Their employment will officially begin by first week of December 2015.

Mario Pangilinan, President and Chief Operating Officer of FDC Utilities, Inc. (FDCUI), a subsidiary of Filinvest Development Corporation (FDC), has expressed gladness in seeing and welcoming the company’s newbies.

“Welcome to the FDC Family! I am hoping that your employment with FDC will be worthwhile.”

However, Pangilinan reminded them to always observe and practice the company’s four core values such as excellence in service, integrity, stewardship, and innovation.

“I don’t expect you to be perfect because everyone really commits mistake(s).  Just always ensure to be capable of not just serving but also by leading a healthy lifestyle while growing at the company,” stressed the FDCUI top executive.

PRESENCE OF MIND, COMMON SENSE

FDCUI Vice President for Plant Construction Albert de Sagun, on the other hand, told the 59 trainees to always have presence of mind and common sense especially in times of troubles and difficulties.

This as De Sagun put emphasis on the true responsibility of the newly-hired employees which is basically to ensure that the plant is always in good operating condition.

But beyond true responsibility, Pangilinan wants the new batch of FDC Misamis employees to also be productive and competitive at all times.Furthermore, he enjoined them to be real stewards in protecting the community and environment through constant vigilance in the daily operations.“We really have to be conscious in our operations, if possible, every hour for the protection of our environment.”

WILLINGNESS TO LEARN, WORK

In response, Pleaides Faith Longakit, who spoke on behalf of the graduates, thanked the FDC management for giving her and her co-cadets the rare opportunity of being part of FDC Misamis. She also acknowledged the molding of their values in congruence with that of the company.

“With our batch’s motto: Willingness to learn and willingness to work, we’re now on the right mindset,” Longakit confidently told the crowd comprising a number of FDCUI executives and staff, and the cadets’ parents, spouses and relatives.

“We’re now ready and so we affirm our commitment to serve FDC Misamis effectively and efficiently,” she declared.

She also expressed gratitude to FDC Misamis for giving them a chance to be trained and now be employed as among the pioneers for FDCUI’s flagship project — the 405-MW Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) Coal Thermal Plant in Villanueva town, Misamis Oriental.

The power plant will commence commercial operations next year.

VALUING INTEGRITY

Meanwhile, RodelEmano and JoemarFactura both look forward to a better future now being with FDC Misamis.

“Because of FDC Misamis and its CTP, I am now sending my six siblings to school. I pay for their tuition fees,” confided the 22-year-old Factura.

“Teaching and always reminding us about the value of integrity is one big thing we can carry within ourselves that will lead us to success anywhere, anytime,” the farmer’s son Factura added.

Emano, 23, on the other hand, said that the cadets’ projected success in life lies not solely on the money they’ll be earning from working with FDC Misamis but also from the values they learned from the training.

Factura and Emano are both natives of Villanueva town coming from barangays Poblacion Uno and San Martin, respectively.*
